The information on this page is presented for historical reasons only. We are currently in the final phase of testing a 'trial' rank system which is comprehensive for all ranks from Learned through Adept. If you are thinking of applying and would like to see our new and improved rank system, please ask Cartman, Geran, or Jennie for the link. This page will next be updated in early July with the full system.
All promotions will factor in general merit, both in how a player furthers the clan, and their personality. For example: a member who contributes to clan discussions often will be considered in a better light for a promotion. However, should their contributions have a notably hostile or unproductive pattern to them, this will undoubtedly count against them.
The other constant factor in promotions within the Cabal will be time within the clan. These are only minimum time requisites, however, members must be clanned for at least one month before their first promotion, three months total for their second promotion, and then an additional three months for each promotion thereafter (“Master/Mistress of Elements” notwithstanding). Thus, a member must be with the Cabal for no less than a year before being eligible for “Elementalist”.
NOTE: In the early stages of The Elemental Cabal, due to numerical rank restrictions (see below), Elementalists may be promoted disregarding this time requisite at the leaders’ discretion.
In addition to the promotion factors above, there will also be a number of more “physical”, or game-related statistics taken into account for promotions.
Up to and including “Savant” rank, promotions are based on leader evaluation, length of time in the clan, and the completion of various tasks and milestones. For each of the two promotions, 12 tasks are given, each element being represented by 3 tasks. Members seeking promotion must choose 5 of the 12 tasks, participating in tasks related to 3 of the 4 elements.
After one month as a Learned, a member may request a promotion to Apprentice. He or she must pick 5 items from this list, and at least 1 item from 3 different Elemental divisions.
After two months as an Apprentice, a member may request a promotion to Savant. He or she must pick 5 items from this list, and at least 1 item from 3 different Elemental divisions.
While at "Apprentice" rank, a member may request to be placed in a faction. Whenever possible, they will be placed in their preferred faction. Members must be placed in a faction before being promoted to "Savant". Each faction may set quests or restrictions which must be completed before joining that faction.
"Savant", “Magus”, and “Adept”, are proper members of their respective factions. Advancement in these ranks is determined by the factions themselves, with leader input.
“Elementalist” ranks are limitted to one for each faction. Members holding this rank are the de facto leader of the faction, with input from the clan leaders. Elementalists are chosen by vote. If there are no "Elementalist" ranked members in a faction, a Leader may delegate a lower ranked clan member to assist them in running their faction.
"Master/Mistress of Elements" ranks are the clan leaders, and are considered to have mastered more than one element. Members of this rank are not in any faction, but have authority over all faction leaders. Masters and Mistresses of Elements are chosen by vote.
Donations will not play a numerical factor in promotions. This means that, while obviously a member donating frequently large amounts will have a better chance of achieving a promotion than one who does not, there are no set minimum donations required to ascend in rank.
Demotions are few and far between in the Elemental Cabal. We strive to better ourselves, our clan, and the mud as a whole. Clan members who do little to advance these goals may be demoted for inactivity. Likewise, clan members who enter our maze with any purpose other than defense, will be demoted or outcasted at the leader's discretion.
